display caseThe Friends May book sale is coming up this weekend, May 5-7. Friends volunteers Virginia Green, Penny Huelat, and Kay Kendall decorated the library’s lobby display case with books and memorabilia to help publicize the sale. Be sure to check it out when you come to the sale.

Book sale hours are:

Friday, May 5, 2 – 3 pm, members-only pre-sale
Friday, May 5, 3 – 6 pm
Saturday, May 6, 10 am – 4 pm
Sunday, May 7, 1 – 4 pm

May book sale: May 5 – 7

May book saleA huge inventory of used books will give shoppers the opportunity to pick up loads of books and media materials for the summer at our semi-annual Used Book Sale, May 5-7.
Hours will be:
Friday, May 5, 2 – 3 pm, members-only pre-sale
Friday, May 5, 3 – 6 pm
Saturday, May 6, 10 am – 4 pm
Sunday, May 7, 1 – 4 pm

New this year will be a members-only pre-sale on Friday, May 5, from 2 to 3 pm. Members will receive an invitation and coupon in the mail to use when shopping during the pre-sale or any time during sale hours if they can’t make it to the pre-sale.

During Sunday sale hours, regularly priced books will be $2 for a bag. Media and special priced items will be 50% off.

Thousands of items will be available at this sale. Here are just some of the highlights:

  • Fiction titles for adults in hardcover and paperback
  • Non-fiction books in every category
  • Lots of juvenile books for children 6-12 years of age
  • Books for children and early readers
  • DVDs (movies and documentaries)
  • Music CDs

Most book prices are in the 50 cent to $1 range, except for some especially nice books and DVDs with prices as marked from $2-5. Credit cards are now being accepted for payment, as well as cash and checks.

The sale will be in the library’s Community Room.

Talbots fundraiser: May 4th

Talbots fundraiserThe Friends are partnering with women’s clothing retailer Talbots for a fundraiser on Thursday May 4th. The Bridgeport store will donate 10% of select sales that day to the Friends. To qualify, shoppers need to indicate that their purchases support the Friends.

Friends membership chair Karen Uboldi will staff our table at the store from 5 to 8 pm that day, telling customers about our mission, inviting them to join us, and publicizing our book sale which starts the very next day. Karen will also have our book bags available to sell.

As a company, Talbots has made a commitment to promote education and literacy by working with organizations like ours.  You’ll find more details about this event on the Talbots flyer. Please share it with your friends and neighbors.

Used media sale: April 8th

Used media sale The Friends of the Tualatin Library will host a Used Media ONLY sale Saturday, April 8, from 10 am to 3 pm in the Tualatin Public Library’s lobby. An avalanche of recent donations means a great selection of used DVDs (movies, documentaries, foreign language films, and kids); audiobooks (CDs and MP3s) and hundreds of CDs of every musical genre.

Prices range from 50 cents to $2, or as marked for some special DVDs. We invite you to come early for the best selection.

The Library is located at 18878 SW Martinazzi Ave. in Tualatin.

Bob Dylan tribute by Ronnie Robins at the library

Ronnie RobinsSinger/songwriter/guitarist Ronnie Robins will perform a tribute to the legendary Bob Dylan at the library on Sunday, March 26th at 2 pm. For the past 20 years, Ronnie has performed extensively as a solo artist and with his band, playing an eclectic assortment of styles. He’ll focus on Dylan’s musical library for this program. In addition to performing, Ronnie also teaches guitar lessons in his home studio and other locations.

This concert will be free for all ages near the library fireplace hearth. Ronnie’s performance will be the latest installment of the library’s Sunday Music Series and supported by a Friends of Tualatin Library donation.
