Fall Book Sale: November 6-7, 2025
The Friends of the Tualatin Library will hold our two-day Used Book Sale on Friday, November 6 from 3 – 6:00pm and Saturday, November 7, from 10am – 4:00pm in the Community Room of the Tualatin Public Library, 18878 SW Martinazzi Ave. in Tualatin.
Please join us for a “Members Only” pre-sale on Friday afternoon from 2:00 – 3:00pm. Current members of the Friends of the Library will have first pick of all sale material. Not yet a member? Become a member online before the sale or join at the door.
This sale will feature lots of fiction and non-fiction books, as well as plenty of children’s titles. Special offerings will include puzzles and games, graphic novels, DVDs, and music CDs. Most book prices are in the 50 cents to $3 range except for some especially nice books and other items which will be priced individually.
During the last two hours of the sale on Saturday, November 7th from 2:00-4:00pm you can fill a paper grocery bag with regularly priced books for only $5! Items tagged with a yellow sticker will be half-price.
We accept credit/debit cards and cash for payment. (Sorry, no checks).
Panera Bread Fundraiser
The Friends of the Tualatin Library are holding a fundraiser at Panera Bread on Nyberg Rd on November 19th between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM. During that time 20% of net sales will go to the Friends of the Tualatin Library. This includes take-out meals but not gift cards or other merchandise. You will need to show the flyer below at time of purchase. Or, use the code FUND4U in the app or at the kiosk inside the store when ordering.
NO COOKING! This is a great opportunity to avoid cooking, enjoy a great meal or snack, and support your local library at the same time!
We’re seeking a President for our Board of Directors
Our President has decided it’s time to semi-retire and allow someone else to lead our organization. Laura Baker has been serving as our President for the past 10 years. Even though she will be stepping down from her leadership position she plans to continue to be a part of our Friends organization. We sincerely thank her for that and for the years she has dedicated to making our Friends group special. This change now presents a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, supporting a valued public institution, and helping guide a financially stable non-profit into its next chapter. Could this be you?
The Board President provides leadership, coordination, and vision while working collaboratively with fellow Board members and volunteers. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leadership, community engagement, and nonprofit governance. The time commitment for this role is 1.5 hours every other month for Board meetings and an additional 5 -7 hours monthly for other duties. There is also a one-day planning meeting on a Saturday in the fall. Time increases a bit around major events (like the book/media sale), but responsibilities are shared.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Champions libraries and literacy
- Feels invested in the Tualatin community and its public library
- Enjoys connecting with community organizations, leaders, and partners
- Is comfortable providing leadership in a collaborative, volunteer‑driven environment
- Brings curiosity, reliability, and a positive, steady presence
You don’t need prior library experience—nonprofit experience is helpful but not required. What matters most is a genuine interest in the mission and a willingness to help lead.

Call for Volunteers
The Friends of the Tualatin Library is actively seeking volunteers for a variety of positions.
Volunteering helps build strong communities, develop new skills, and engage with your neighbors. The Friends of the Tualatin Library is putting out the call for more volunteers to join us in our work.
Membership Chairperson
This volunteer will work to sustain and increase our membership. You can work from home while tracking and processing membership applications and payments. There is one membership drive annually at the end of the year and then ongoing work is about 1 hour per week.
Community Book Sale Coordinator Co-chair
Work closely with the current co-chair to plan and execute our semi-annual community book sales. We hold two large book sales per year, which are in May and November. You’ll be busy around each sale date, but work slows considerably in between sales.
Board of Directors
Help manage the affairs of the Friends between our annual membership meetings, including the disbursement of funds. Our Board is a working board, and members are expected to participate in committees, workgroups, or other activities as needed. The Board meets every other month for 1.5 hours. We also have one planning work session annually.

The Friends of the Tualatin Library was founded in 2005 by a small group of volunteers with the goal of raising money for the Tualatin Library. Since then, we have donated over $250,000 for equipment and programs outside the library budget. The Friends currently support the Summer Reading program for children, teens and adults; a variety of popular music events; MakerSpace equipment and supplies; and many other programs for all ages.
