We’re thrilled to report that the Friends of the Tualatin Library made a donation of $550 to the Texas Library Association’s Disaster Relief Fund for aid to libraries devastated by the flooding of Hurricane Harvey.
On September 1st we announced that proceeds from our book sales from 9/1/17 to 9/8/17 would go to Texas. The base cash donation from the Friends’ library sale shelves for the week was $275. That total is about $50 higher than is typical, so we’re sure patrons were adding extra and rounding up to help this effort. There were four very generous check donations in our cash box as well, bringing the total to $550.
Thanks a million to all who helped us get this effort off the ground quickly when the disaster was foremost in peoples’ minds. As we can only imagine, the road to recovery is now a long one and the Friends are happy to have made a contribution.
