Friends support ESL tutoring

English as a second languageThe Friends have donated funding to the library to support an English as a second language tutoring program. The money goes toward textbooks and workbooks to help people improve their English skills with trained volunteers in a one-on-one tutoring environment.

If you’re interested in this program, please call the library at 503-691-3072. An appointment is required, but various days and times are available.

Friends sponsor Symphony Storytime

Symphony StorytimeWe invite you to meet members of the Oregon Symphony at the Tualatin Library Symphony Storytime every Wednesday in February. This series of interactive storytimes for toddlers and preschoolers is supported each year by Friends of the Tualatin Library.

Each one-hour storytime features one of the four families of musical instruments: strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. Children and their parents experience a live musical collaboration between the library reader and an Oregon Symphony musician. Musicians play short selections, talk a little about their instrument and, after the stories are read aloud, audience members can try out each instrument!

Symphony Storytime will be held in the Tualatin Library Community Room on Feb 4, Feb 11, Feb 18, and Feb 25. It runs from 11 am to noon.
