The Friends contributed $2000 to fund the Tualatin Library’s Oregon Battle of the Books program. OBOB is a statewide voluntary reading motivation and comprehension initiative for students in 3rd-12th grades. Our contribution will pay for books for fifteen 3rd-5th grade students. Each student will receive two books per month from September through February.
With OBOB, students are exposed to quality literature representing a variety of literary styles and viewpoints. The mission is to encourage and recognize students who enjoy reading, broaden reading interests, increase reading comprehension, promote academic excellence, and encourage cooperative learning and teamwork among students.
